Welcome to Andy Whitelaw Joinery

Andy Whitelaw Joinery started in business in April of 1983, with just Andy working from his own garage manufacturing timber products, carrying out loft conversions, bedroom fittings and fitted kitchens. With the quality of work shining through, it didn’t take long for Andy to expand the business further. 

Andy worked from his home workshop up until 1995 when he decided to buy and demolish two derelict houses on Durham Street in Scarborough in order to build the company’s first factory unit. Whilst he was always committed to manufacturing quality joinery products, Andy realised that there was a need for a good quality glass manufacturer and supplier in the local area. So, out of Durham Street he started his own glass company to run alongside his ever successful Joinery and PVC company. 

By 2000, the company had outgrown the new premises so Andy bought Dodsworth Coach Park in Eastfield Industrial Estate and built a 14,000sq foot bespoke glass factory, leaving Joinery room to grow further in Durham Street. In 2004 it was apparent that to make both companies work more efficiently and to save on costs, the two departments need to be remerged. So, the company invested in a new site on Hopper Hill Road and built a 42,000sq foot factory.

Now, we have one of the largest and most up-to-date joiner’s shops in the area which, down to our highly skilled and experienced shop joiners, is capable of manufacturing anything from a small toilet window to a complete bespoke bar refit. Andy and his co-director Phill White now run the business on a day-to-day basis, looking after private customers and completing larger commercial jobs in school, hospitals and hotels. Andy and his team pride themselves on customer service to the highest possible level and are committed to quality of products that are offered throughout the Yorkshire region. We offer planning and kitchen design service, so you can have a preview with the use of CAD drawings before you decide.
